She is an ex-professional showjumper and is registered to train and supervise performing animals. She is currently on a visiting research fellowship at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort, France, working with one of the world's leading equine research groups, and is an award-winning and highly published scientist and public speaker. She has recently been employed (2004 - 5) as a Consultant Biomechanist (human and animal) on numerous major films, including 'Troy', 'King Arthur', 'Alexander', 'Kingdom of Heaven', and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' - and is currently involved in the development of a simulation model to replace the use of live horses in dangerous stunts (Equine Mechanics opposes the cruel use of animals in the film industry and believes that computer- generated image technology provides a viable alternative to putting horses in dangerous or otherwise stressful situations).
