Background information :-
Siân Lawson obtained a BSc in Equine Science (First Class Hons) at
Bristol University and a Doctorate in Medical Engineering (Biomechanics)
at Oxford University. She is an ex-professional showjumper and is
registered to train and supervise performing animals. She is currently
on a visiting research fellowship at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort,
France, working with one of the world's leading equine research groups,
and is an award-winning and highly published scientist and public speaker.

She has recently been employed (2004 - 5) as a Consultant
Biomechanist (human and animal) on numerous major films,
including 'Troy', 'King Arthur', 'Alexander', 'Kingdom of Heaven',
and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' - and is currently involved
in the development of a simulation model to replace the use of live
horses in dangerous stunts (Equine Mechanics opposes the cruel
use of animals in the film industry and believes that computer-
generated image technology provides a viable alternative to
putting horses in dangerous or otherwise stressful situations).
