He trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and University College London Hospitals. He was appointed as a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at University College London Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in 1997. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and The Royal Free and University College School of Medicine, University of London. Mr Newman has a large practice in oral cancer, with a particular specialist interest in microvascular free flap reconstruction techniques. In addition, he has extensive experience in dento-alveolar surgery (e.g. wisdom tooth removal). He also has a major interest in salivary gland surgery and the management of facial trauma. He has published widely in the medical literature and has extensive experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
