From 1977 he worked with sex offenders in high security prisons and under supervision in the community. He was appointed as Principal Therapist and clinic manager at Gracewell Clinic in Birmingham in 1990, where he gained much experience in the assessment of incest offenders and other child molesters, and giving expert evidence. Since 1994 he has worked as an independent consultant on sexual crime and domestic violence. He is regularly instructed as an expert witness and consultant to criminal justice agencies and child protection charities. Trained in the legal aspects of report writing, giving evidence in court and in the responsibilities of a Single Joint Expert Av.
