Career background :-
I am registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council as a
Registered General Nurse and am a member of the RCN.
I am also a member of the Society of Expert Witnesses and
am entered on the DLA register of nursing malpractice experts.

I have post-registration theatre experience in orthopaedics,
urology, trauma, spinal injuries, minor surgery, gynaecology
and vascular nursing care.

From 1999, I have worked as a Bank District Community Nurse
and staff nurse on the Gynaecology Ward in Southport DGH.

As from 2000 I worked as a Branch Manager with Allied Healthcare,
being responsible for assessing and delivering care to more than
200 patients and managing 126 staff. Care specialised in the
provision of homecare for clients requiring support to live in their
own homes. Client care groups included brain injuries, spinal
injuries, learning disabilities and mental health.

I was a Registered Manager with Lancashire County Council,
the NCSC and accordingly in compliance with the Nursing
Agencies Act 1957. During this time I was a member of the
mental health working group with Lancashire County Council.

In December 2001 I completed a comprehensive training course
which was approved by NIOSH as a manual handling instructor
and risk assessment issues. In addition, I successfully completed
a course leading to a Certificate in Supervisory Management.

As a Registered Manager I have considerable working knowledge
regarding compliance with both domestic and European
Employment Law, including the Working Time Directive minimum
wage legislation, Nurses Agency Act 1957, Health and Safety at
Work Act 1974, Manual Handling Operations 1992, Management
Regulations 1999, Care Standards Act 2000, NCSC regulations, as
well as COSHH, LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, and RIDDOR 1995
regulations.

Since 2002, I have been working with various client groups including
acquired brain and spinal injuries, personal and clinical negligence
injuries, providing case management services, training and expert
witness reports. I have developed an assessment model which can
be used to quantify care costs and the effectiveness of rehabilitation
in both case management and nursing care expert reports. As a case
manager, I arrange brain and spinal injury training and information for
staff and clients. I have devised a training programme that incorporates
the complications of the spinal patient and Autonomic Dysreflexia, and
have delivered this training at the Southport Spinal Injuries Unit to patients,
relatives and members of staff. As an expert witness, I specialise in
nursing care reports, (future, past and current care costs), rehabilitation,
equipment and aids costs, case management for spinal and brain
injured clients, employers liability for manual handling injuries
(community care) and nursing malpractice. My company website
hosts a forum for Case managers, expert witnesses and solicitors.

Trained in the legal aspects of report writing (May, 2003, Society
of Expert Witnesses) and in giving evidence in court (June 2004).
