Dr Howells is available to undertake psychiatric assessments and
to provide medico-legal reports for both claimants and defendants.
He specialises in cases involving :-

(1) personal injury
(2) psychiatric issues
(3) alcohol-related issues

Medico-Legal Experience :-
Dr Howells has acted as an Expert Witness for about 10 years -
and in some 40 - 60 cases during the last two years. These have
been primarily, but not exclusively, cases involving compensation
for personal injury due to accidents. He acts for both parties in
roughly equal proportions. He provides expertise in employment
matters relating to disability and also provides reports for cases
involving refugees and asylum requests. He has also reported
on parents in family custody cases where alcohol or psychiatric
illness has been questioned. He has given evidence in court on
five occasions, including two hearings at the High Court in London.

Dr Howells conducts two psychiatric clinics :-

(1) Adult General Psychiatry Clinic
- major and minor general adult psychiatric problems, including
stress, emotional problems, depression and mood disturbance,
alcohol dependence and occupational problems.

(2) Family Psychiatry Clinic

(a) Adults : marital and relationship problems, severe parenting
and family organisational problems. Minor mental illness and
psychological problems in family members.

(b) Children : oppositional-defiant disorder, conduct disorder,
ADHD - where emotional and conduct issues, mood disturbance,
overanxious disorder, adjustment disorders, self harm, school
refusal and school conduct disorders.
