Neurodevelopmental disorders (paediatrics) | Child, adolescent and family psychiatry Child psychology and behaviour Severely disturbed and troubled children Post-traumatic stress disorders in children Brain disease related psychoses Professor Peter Hill has run services for children with neuro- developmental problems, particularly ADHD, for over 20 years and moved to Great Ormond Street after a number of years at St George's Hospital, London. Currently his service offers advice to other specialists about children with complex neuro-developmental problems, especially when there are difficult diagnostic problems or a need for cutting edge psychopharmacological treatment. He has written and lectured widely on various aspects of ADHD and has been responsible for providing advanced training for consultant psychiatrists, psychologists and paediatricians. As one of the most senior opinion leaders on the topic, he has advised a number of authorities and agencies in Europe, Asia, the USA and the Middle East. Professor Hill runs a neurodevelopmental service at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, where he sees children with problems such as ADHD, autistic spectrum disorders and other conditions in which there are brain damage or development problems associated with near-normal intelligence. His service there only sees children for whom local specialists need advice and only takes referrals from consultants. He also runs the national Tourette's clinic for children at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He has a number of other jobs: a small but thriving private practice, work for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Research Unit, health services management consultancy through the Health Advisory Service where he is specialist advisor in the child and adolescent section, consultant advisor to the British Army, and a number of other advisory roles.
